What exactly is Kinesiology?

Many people have unanswered questions around Kinesiology: what it is, what it does and its benefits are common questions we come across in clinic.

Simply put, Kinesiology means ‘the study of movement’. By encompassing holistic health disciplines and gentle muscle monitoring, Kinesiology is used to access a person’s well-being.

Originating in the 1970′s, Kinesiology combines Western techniques and Eastern medicine to promote physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health. Kinesiology draws on the ancient philosophy that when we encounter stress or trauma, it can be buried in our subconscious causing an imbalance in our bodies.

As Kinesiologists, we don’t diagnose illness. We work with stress patterns, signs and symptoms. Left untreated, these stress patterns can manifest mentally, physically and emotionally and may lead to illness or disease.

We believe at some deep unconscious level, your body knows exactly what it needs to be healthy. In other words, we let your body do the talking: sometimes you just need someone to help you listen to it.

Through this speciailised muscle testing technique, we identify underlying conditions in your body. This technique draws on the biofeedback system, which sends messages from our brain to our muscles. Once we identify what the body needs to restore balance and in what order, we may find that working with the priority issue can actually solve other problems too.
